*****Final Update*****

On Friday, July 24, 2015, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated three separate crashes on Interstate 84 near milepost 75, east of Simco road exit.

Justin Fitzpatrick, 21, of Mountain Home, was traveling westbound in a 2002 Dodge Stratus. Steven Shelly, 50, of Meridian, was traveling westbound in a 2009 Pontiac G6. Fitzpatrick was traveling below the posted speed limit when his vehicle was struck from behind by Shelly's vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway.

Fitzpatrick's adult passenger was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Fitzpatrick's infant passenger was transported by air ambulance to the same location. All occupants were wearing seatbelts, and the infant was in a child seat. No lanes were blocked for this crash.

A second crash occurred involving a 1990 Buick Century, driven by Aaron Blackburn, 21, of Boise. The Buick struck the rear of a 2007 Kia Optima, driven by Marie Bare, 55, of Pocatello, then struck side of a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by Randall Jewett, 55, of Hill City. None of the drivers or passengers were transported.

A third crash occurred when a 2005 Mitsubishi car driven by David West, 26, of Twin Falls, slowed down for traffic. The Mitsubishi was struck from the rear by a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Natasha Richey, 20, of Mountain Home.

Richey and her passenger James Mullis, 26, of Mountain Home, were transported via ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. It is unknown at this time if seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash.

The roads were partly blocked for about two hours while crews worked to clear the crashes.

The crashes are under investigation by the Idaho State Police with assistance at the scene by the Elmore County Sheriff's Department.
