The Breath Alcohol Unit is responsible for training police agency breath alcohol specialists and certifying instrument operators and breath testing instruments in Idaho. Individuals in this specialty testify about the accuracy of the instruments, physiological factors involved in breath testing, the interpretation of training manuals and protocols, and other related topics. They also recommend new instruments and write training manuals for police officers.
